About Hypnosis

F.A.Q.

What is Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy:

Hypnosis is a way of more directly accessing the unconscious mind (which is responsible for much of our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors) through trance. Hypnosis is essentially direct communication with the part of you that is responsible for your trials and tribulations.  It is the best and most efficient way that I have found to work with the unconscious and effect change.

Hypnotherapy is the application of this technique for therapeutic benefits. Incorporating hypnosis into treatment is an effective way to address root causes of problems rather than just treating symptoms.

Media representations of hypnosis often promote the myth that hypnosis is mind control. This is simply not the case. All hypnosis is self-hypnosis. Nothing can occur during hypnosis that the unconscious mind isn’t in agreement with. Most often during hypnosis, one is aware of what is happening and remembers the experience.

What is trance:

Trance is a naturally occurring state of altered consciousness during which one is absorbed in the internal experience. Trance experiences are common and occur spontaneously (such as when daydreaming, driving a familiar route, or watching TV). Hypnosis uses various techniques to deepen trance, though it can be effective even when one is in a light trance.

Applications of hypnosis include:

  • Anxiety, phobias
  • Behavioral change
  • Depression and other struggles associated with mood
  • Habit control
  • Healing and health enrichment
  • Improved attention and focus, ADD/ADHD support
  • Improved relationships
  • Increased confidence, self-esteem and empowerment
  • Intimacy, sexual concerns
  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome and other GI struggles
  • Pain management
  • Performance enhancement
  • PTSD and other trauma-related symptoms
  • Sleep disturbances
  • Smoking cessation
  • Stress reduction and relaxation
  • Weight change and/or maintenance

and so much more!
